Vitiligo Surgery

Vitiligo Surgery

Treatment Overview

For patients with stable vitiligo patches who have not achieved repigmentation through topical medicines or phototherapy, Vitiligo Surgery offers a highly effective option. At Skin Aura Clinic, we perform advanced surgical grafting techniques including Non-Cultured Epidermal Suspension (NCES) melanocyte transplant, suction blister grafting, and punch grafting. These surgical methods transplant healthy pigment-producing cells (melanocytes) to the white patches to restore skin color.

Key Benefits

Restores Natural Skin Pigment

Successfully repigments stubborn white patches, blending them with your skin tone.

Advanced Cellular Grafting

NCES allows treatment of larger areas using a small donor skin graft.

High Success Rates

Clinically proven surgical procedures with excellent color match and cosmetic results.

Restores Self-Confidence

Significantly improves the appearance of visible patches on the face, hands, or body.

What to Expect During the Procedure

Under local anesthesia, a thin skin graft is harvested from a donor area (like the thigh). For NCES, the graft is processed in a laboratory setup to separate individual melanocytes and keratinocytes. The recipient vitiligo patch is gently prepared (dermabraded), and the cell suspension is applied. A sterile, secure dressing is placed over the area.

Frequently Asked Questions

Surgery is suitable only for stable vitiligo. Stability means no new patches have appeared, and existing patches have not expanded for at least 12 months.

Initial pigmentation starts appearing within 4 to 8 weeks after the dressings are removed, and the color continues to spread and blend over 3 to 6 months.

Surgery is a highly effective way to restore color to stable patches, but it does not cure the underlying condition. It is a cosmetic reconstruction of depigmented skin.
